Operations/Finance Manager

Kim Lundgren Associates, Inc. (KLA) is seeking a qualified Operations/Finance Manager, ideally in the Boston, MA, area to manage business and office systems, lead new hire onboarding, and support finance related activities. KLA is a woman-owned, benefit corporation that partners with local governments to build the sustainable community they envision. We do this by delivering affordable tools and services to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate climate action and sustainability goals and programs. KLA is currently in a growth phase and in need of a driven, organized individual that can take ownership over our core systems, including our accounting, timesheet, invoicing, project management, and email systems to ensure we are operating as efficiently as possible. This is a unique opportunity for someone to grow with us while helping us build a more sustainable future for all. This position will report directly to and support our CEO, Kim Lundgren.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee set up, ongoing maintenance, and training for staff and clients into KLA’s organizational systems including HubSpot, Trello, Dropbox, BigTime, QuickBooks Online, Slack, Office 365, etc.
  • Set up new projects in BigTime for time and expense accounting and invoicing
  • Support monthly invoicing of clients
  • Process payment for accounts payable
  • Follow up on Accounts Receivable
  • Manage key office functions- phones, shared workspaces, etc.
  • Work with the leadership team to develop new hire onboarding & staff training program
  • Propose and implement (as approved) new organizational systems or new ways to use existing systems to ensure the Team runs as efficiently as possible
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with KLA’s benefit corporation and B Corps commitments
  • Other admin or back office related support as needed, including printing and mailing of proposals

    Qualifications:
  • Entrepreneurial spirit- must be comfortable in a startup environment and willing to be a team player
  • Extremely organized and willing and able to develop and train the team on new systems and processes
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an office manager, bookkeeping, accounting, or operations manager related role
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of the Office 365 Suite
  • Comfortable in remote, home, or shared workspaces
  • Must be willing to continuously learn and improve performance
  • We anticipate this role will evolve over the years, you will need to be flexible and comfortable in a dynamic environment

  • Experience using HubSpot, Trello, BigTime, Dropbox (Admin Console)
  • Sales or marketing experience
  • Experience working with local or state governments

Social Media and Communications Intern: Fall 2019

Cambridge or Burlington, MA

Kim Lundgren Associates, Inc. (KLA) is seeking a part-time Social Media and Communications Intern to assist with strategy and implementation for the company's social media and content marketing. It's an opportunity to work with a start-up in the sustainability/climate change/clean energy space on a variety of writing and social media projects, including compiling social media best practices, developing content, and training internal and external parties.

KLA is a benefits corporation that partners with local governments to build the sustainable communities they envision. We do this by delivering affordable tools and services to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and communicate sustainability goals and programs. Our core services are: Planning, Greenhouse Gas Accounting, Online Dashboard, Communications, Public Engagement, and Capacity Building. Communications includes branding and communications strategy and writing/posting blog posts and social media content pertaining to their climate/energy/sustainability work. KLA's clients represent local governments of all shapes and sizes, including, but not limited to Boston, MA; Nashua, NH; New Bedford, MA; Portland/South Portland, ME; San Antonio, TX; and West Palm Beach, FL.

KLA's current communications portfolio includes: social media (Twitter, LinkedIn), blog posts, SAS Talk with Kim podcasts (https://soundcloud.com/sastalk), and email marketing. We also support our clients with content for these platforms as well as Instagram.

The Intern will work with KLA's CEO and business development staff on:

  • Graphics (design experience a plus but not a requirement)
  • Research, writing and editing blog posts, case studies and other content
  • Content for ongoing client/prospect emails
  • Developing strategy and scripts for videos

The Intern will work with KLA's communications and marketing staff on:

  • Crafting a social media strategy for KLA that increases our audience and drives engagement
  • Writing posts and managing engagement for KLA’s Twitter and LinkedIn channels
  • Preparing and presenting resource documents and trainings on social media and communications best practices for KLA staff
  • Keeping a finger on the pulse of social media trends, best practices, memes, and other opportunities to optimize KLA social media
  • Graphics (design experience a plus but not a requirement)
  • Research, writing and editing blog posts, case studies and other content
  • Content for ongoing client/prospect emails
  • Developing strategy and scripts for videos

Details

  • 20 hours/week (flexible schedule)
  • $18-$20/hour commensurate with experience
  • Ability to work in-person once/week at either our Cambridge or Burlington, MA location
  • Possibility of working some hours remotely
  • Official start date September 3, 2019
  • Minimum commitment through the end of December with potential opportunity to extend into 2020
